Gossip Girl sets fashions

In anticipation of the second season of "Gossip Girl," the real-life gossip is flying fast - not about the plot, but about the clothes.
"I bet Serena will wear a lot of chunky jewelry because she always wears those simple tees with a pair of skinny jeans and boots," predicts Jessica Rowe, 19, from Rosedale, N.Y., of the show's take on this fall's trends. While many television shows like "Sex and the City" have captured the hearts of fashion's in crowd in the past, none have done so with the impact on the teen set and its emerging buying influence as "Gossip Girl" has, says Gloria Baume, the fashion director of Teen Vogue.
The teen soap, which starts its second season Sept. 1, has become known more for its fashion than its scripted drama, and the styles worn by its hot young stars are influencing women of all ages.
"Truthfully, that generation - the 14-to 18-year-olds - have kind of taken over," Baume says. "It's all about them. The consumer trends, the music, anywhere from the general trends on the street, really gets translated into what women are wearing." ... Read More ...

Gossip Girl is a little secret I share with most women of my acquaintance. Based on the antics of a group of super privileged teenagers on New York's Upper East Side, we thirty-something ladies are clearly not its target audience.
But the show, with its dark storylines, wonderful fashion and sexy views of Manhattan's wealthiest lifestyles, is addictive - and it is no wonder that it is being touted as TV's new Sex And The City.
One of the reasons for its irresistibility is the best-looking member of the cast now sitting right in front of me. With blue eyes, a rippling physique and easy charm, Chace Crawford, who plays Nate Archibald, is one of America's favourite 'hotties', vying with High School Musical's Zac Efron to be the biggest heart-throb in the land.
It's a role the 23-year-old actor admits he is still struggling to come to terms with.
'I am trying hard to stay grounded with it. I don't let it go to my head, but I can see how it could. You hear people say "Yes" all the time and an ego builds up.
'It can be a bit weird when you are in a restaurant and people are staring. I still get anxious when people stare. It means I stay in a lot and have people over for dinner.' ... Read More ...

Blair (Leighton Meester) returns from abroad with a hot guy on her arm (guest star Patrick Heusinger), making a very jealous Chuck (Ed Westwick) question his decision to leave Blair stranded at the heliport. Dan has spent the summer assisting a famous author (guest star McInerney), but decides to head to the Hamptons to see how things stand with Serena after a summer spent apart. While interning for Eleanor Waldorfs company, Jenny (Taylor Momsen) sneaks an invite to a much-coveted Hamptons White Party at which Eric (Connor Paolo) introduces her to socialite Tinsley Mortimer. Gossip girl spoilers for season 2 straight from the cast’s mouth…

Spotted: the stars of the CW’s teen drama “Gossip Girl,” dishing details on the new season. MTV’s TRL went behind the scenes with Chace Crawford (Nate), Jessica Szohr (Vanessa), Leighton Meester (Blair), Ed Westwick (Chuck) and new boy Patrick Heusinger.
“The second season of ‘Gossip Girl’ - there’s so much drama coming up that you can’t even imagine,” says Szohr. “There’s a couple interesting things that happen with Chuck,” says Szohr. “I always find it funny because Chuck is such a bad boy character, and he ends up getting punched again.”
Szohr adds that Blair brings home a surprise - in the form of new “gossip boy” Marcus, played by Patrick Heusinger. Blair’s new boy does not necessarily mean that things are over between her and Chuck, though.
“We are about to shoot a scene between me and Ed [who plays Chuck]. It gets real steamy real fast,” says Meester. “He’s trying to seduce her. And he’s failing, but not for long.”
“Gossip Girl” returns for its second season on Sept. 1.

Grown New Yorkers Tremble around Jenny from Gossip Girl

 It’s hard to read the Observer’s profile of Taylor Momsen without comparing the Gossip Girl star to Miley Cyrus. Both celebrities are 15, and both must strategically handle the news media’s desire, however subtle, to examine them as sex objects. The game is especially tricky for Cyrus, whose audience is heavily pre-teen and whose show lives on the Disney Channel. She must disavow racy photo spreads in the traditional media even as her underwear cell-phone pictures leak online. Momsen has an advantage: Gossip Girl is about teen sex, and high school kids otherwise acting like adults. So the actress, who plays Jenny Humphrey on the show, doesn’t have to feign outrage when the Observer talks about her “coltish beauty,” or says “her legs are epic, long and stretching out from here to forever,” or runs a picture selected, it would seem, to illustrate the latter. The adult positioning also draws to the child star a bankable, cultlike adult following, as illustrated in the profile:

Gossip Girl is No Longer Enough for Wide-Eyed Taylor Momsen

 Deceptively tall (she's 5-foot-7!) Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen ventured out to Brooklyn the other day, but not to film a scene in her character's Brooklyn loft apartment. Instead, Ms. Momsen was trying on a modeling a career, according to Fashionista. The youngest of the show's cast members, 14-year-old Ms. Momsen has reportedly signed with IMG.
Considering Ms. Momsen still looks like an awkward middle school field hockey player than a high-fashion model, it's a bit of a stretch. Still, a source from the photo shoot told Fashionista that "Taylor was so nice and so cool. She took the subway from her apartment in Chelsea to the set, with her mom. They said they didn't want to do the usual obvious stuff that a teen TV star would do; they were looking for really high-end things." ... Read More ...
